Designed to fold away the ring houses a suspended gnomon pivoted at north edge to align the ring with the location latitude.  The arched arm locks the ring into position at the appropriate angle (52.6° for Leicester). There are seven insets relating to each of the buses that pases through the stop outsode my window.
